Mini Comps starts Wednesday 5th September

Posted on 29th Aug 2018, 12:00am

Mini Comps begin on Wednesday 5th September at 5pm for Juniors and at 7pm for Seniors at the Yass Soldiers Club. Remember you need to be a member of the Yass Soldiers Club (or for juniors their parent or guardian) before the first round (this is for insurance purposes).

The comp is made up of four teams with four players each. All players should show up by 5pm for Juniors and by 7pm for Seniors. The home team captain gets to pick which players go on first (so no.1's or 2's or 3's or 4's). Then the away team captain picks who goes on second and so on, until all four players in each team have played.

The comp will run for four weeks (Wed 5, 12, 19 and 26 September). Wednesday 26th September will be the finals round and will involve all teams playing, 1st v's 2nd placed teams will play off for 1st. And 3rd v's 4th placed teams will play off for 3rd.

All the information on the comps is available in Sporty HQ. When you log onto Sporty HQ you should see on your dashboard your upcoming matches. Or go to Leagues, pick Yass Soldiers Club under 'Your Affiliations' and then select Junior Comp or Senior Comp.

In case you have any trouble accessing in Sporty HQ I have attached the Teams List and Schedule (draw) to this email.

Please review the Squash Getting Started Poster which outlines the basic rules of squash. We will be playing each game to 15 points (point a rally) and the best of 5 games (you need to win 3 games to win the match).

On the rules.... these will be social comps. Any abusive or negative behaviour will not be tolerated. Please do not argue with the scorer or the referee, just accept their decision and keep playing. No one comes to sport to get abused. If you don't abide by these rules you will find there is not a spot for you in future comps.

If you can not play on a certain week, please let me know (via the yasssquash@gmail.com email address) and I will organise a reserve to play for you. Please give me at least a couple of hours notice, or at least a day would be great.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for round 1.
